Role and Function

Purchases costumes according to the Costume Designer's specifications. Coordinates deliveries, fittings, and returns. Maintains a costume database with sizes, condition, and availability. Oversees the budget for costume purchases and rentals.

Practical Relevance in Film Production

Documents every costume change for continuity. Photographs costumes before and after takes. Provides replacement costumes for stunts and reshoots. Works closely with the Script Supervisor.

Career Paths and Development

Entry-level positions include Costume Assistant or Wardrobe Assistant. Advancement to Assistant Costume Designer or Costume Supervisor is possible. Lateral entry from the fashion industry or retail is also feasible.
