Dedo Felloni is a manufacturer of high-quality small studio lights.

Technical Details

The Felloni series includes LED panels ranging from 160x95mm (Felloni High Output) to 490x295mm (Felloni 50°). Typical models deliver 1,100 to 3,200 lux at a meter's distance, operate with CRI values over 95, and offer color temperatures from 3,200K to 5,600K. The fixtures weigh between 340g and 1.2kg, feature DMX control, and achieve dimming levels from 0-100% without color shift. Power is supplied via V-Mount batteries, D-Tap, or AC adapter.

History & Development

Dedo Weigert developed the first Felloni prototypes in 2013 in response to the demand for mobile, battery-powered LED soft lights. The first series production hit the market in 2014, initially only in a daylight version. Bi-color models followed in 2016, and RGB variants in 2018. Continuous development led to the High Output series in 2020, with doubled light output at the same dimensions.

Practical Application in Film

Fellonis are suitable as fill light for interviews, bounce light from white walls, or as an eye light in close-ups. In "Babylon Berlin" (2017), Fellonis were used as hidden light sources in vehicles. Their compact design allows placement in tight spaces or as practical lights on set. Disadvantages: Limited light output for larger areas, battery operation requires regular changes on longer shooting days.

Comparison & Alternatives

Unlike Aputure AL-M9 or Litepanels Astra, Felloni focuses on European manufacturing quality and precise color reproduction. Arri SkyPanel S30-C offers more light output but is significantly heavier and more expensive. Modern alternatives like Creamsource Vortex8 or Astera Titan Tubes cover similar application areas. Fellonis are preferred for documentary work and run-and-gun productions where weight and mobility are crucial.
