Sensor format with 2x crop factor (17.3x13mm), popular for compact cinema cameras.

Definition

Micro Four Thirds (MFT) is a sensor standard with a size of 17.3x13mm, developed by Panasonic and Olympus. The 2x crop factor effectively makes lenses twice as "long".

Practical Application

Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K, Panasonic GH series. Compact and lightweight for gimbal/drone. Greater depth of field than larger sensors - advantage or disadvantage depending on the application.

Technical Details

Sensor: 17.3x13mm (4:3 Ratio). Crop factor: 2x. A 25mm MFT lens corresponds to the field of view of a 50mm on full-frame. Wide lens selection due to open standard.
