Rosco color filter that neutralizes green color casts from LED and daylight sources, correcting unwanted green color shifts.

Definition

Rosco 3308 is a Color Temperature Orange (CTO) color filter with a 1/8 correction. It converts daylight (5600K) to warmer artificial light (approx. 4900K).

Practical Application

Used for color temperature matching:

  • Color Correction: Adjusting daylight lamps to existing artificial light
  • Light Control: Reduces light output by approximately 1/3 stop
  • Effect Design: Creates a warm lighting mood without a full CTO filter
  • Efficiency Improvement: Avoids color grading in post-production

Technical Details

  • Transmission: approx. 85%
  • Color Temperature Shift: -700K with daylight
  • Available as sheets (20"x24") or rolls
  • Heat resistant up to 150°C

Practical Tips

  • Factor in a 1/3 stop exposure correction
  • Can be combined with other CTO filters for stronger correction
  • Use a light meter with a color temperature function
  • Store dry and protected from UV radiation

Professional Standards

Rosco filters are industry standard for:

  • Color temperature continuity across shooting days
  • Quick set adjustments without lamp changes
  • Cost reduction compared to full-spectrum LED panels
  • Broadcast-compliant color reproduction
