Anamorphic lens for S35 sensors with 1.33x squeeze ratio and T1.8 aperture. Built-in autofocus allows continuous focus pulling. Produces distinctive oval bokeh highlights and side-oriented lens flares typical of anamorphic glass.

Technical Characteristics

As a cinematographer, I particularly appreciate the combination of an authentic anamorphic look and reliable autofocus – this was previously unthinkable with anamorphic lenses. The T1.8 aperture gives me enough light reserves for available light situations, and I use the characteristic horizontal flares specifically as a design element. Areas of Application

For me, this lens opens up new creative possibilities, as I can use the cinematic film look even in smaller productions without relying on expensive, heavy vintage anamorphic lenses. The autofocus allows me to make more spontaneous, documentary-style shots without losing the cinematic visual language. The Sirui 40mm offers excellent value for money for anamorphic shooting and significantly reduces the effort on set – no additional focus puller needed, lower weight, less lighting effort due to the wide aperture. This makes high-quality cinematic productions feasible even with smaller budgets.
