Columbia produces big blockbusters and prestige titles, while Screen Gems specializes in horror and genre films. This is not by chance, but portfolio management. On set, you notice this when the requirements for color grading, sound design, or visual effects vary depending on the label – Columbia aims for maximum cinematic impact, while Screen Gems often focuses on efficient, fast post-production.
For post-production and streaming development, Sony's technical standards play a role. The company has its own hardware divisions (cameras, lenses) and internally favors this technology.
