Blazar Mantis

Specialized camera crane system with precise pan-and-tilt mechanics — enables extreme wide-angle shots and dynamic camera moves from great heights. Commonly used for spectacular establishing shots and action sequences.

Technical Characteristics

As a cinematographer, I particularly appreciate the handling of the Blazar Mantis on set – the 1.33x squeeze makes composing in the viewfinder significantly more pleasant than with 2x anamorphic lenses. The characteristic lens flares still give my images the desired cinematic film look without me constantly having to battle extreme image distortion. The Blazar Mantis is a process in film production. Anamorphic lens, 1.33x squeeze

Areas of Application

For me as a director, the Blazar Mantis offers the perfect compromise between the desired cinematic look and practical workflow. I can judge the image composition more directly and don't have to brief my actors as much regarding the anamorphic distortions, which makes the creative process on set more fluid. The Blazar Mantis is more budget-friendly in post-production, as less complex de-squeezing processes are necessary. The shorter setup times on set due to easier handling reduce my shooting day costs, while we still achieve the premium look that broadcasters and distributors expect.
