Compact cine-zoom from DZOFILM covering wide focal length ranges with strong optical quality and minimal weight. Popular on set for quick reframes without swapping glass.

Definition

The DZOFILM Pictor Zoom is a series of professional cine zoom lenses specifically designed for Super 35mm sensors. This Chinese lens series has made a name for itself in international film production due to its exceptional price-performance ratio. The Pictor series includes several focal length ranges, such as 14-30mm T2.8, 20-55mm T2.8, and 50-125mm T2.8, offering a constant aperture and minimal focus breathing and field of view fluctuations when zooming.

The lenses feature a robust metal construction, precise focus and zoom mechanics, and standardized gear rings for follow focus systems. Particularly noteworthy is the cinematic image quality with warm color rendition and pleasing bokeh (out-of-focus blur), which is on par with significantly more expensive established manufacturers like Angenieux or Canon in many aspects.

Practical Application

In German film and television production, DZOFILM Pictor Zooms have become particularly established for productions with moderate budgets. They are excellently suited for documentary work, commercials, and television series where the flexibility of zoom lenses is required but the budget for high-end optics is limited. The lenses are compatible with common camera systems such as RED, Sony FX, Canon C-series, and Blackmagic.
