Intro

The Kino Flo FreeStyle is an LED lighting panel with RGBWW arrays for precise color mixing. Five wavelengths per pixel allow for the emulation of classic film lights and continuous color temperature control from 2500-9900K.

History & Development

NAB premiere 2016. First cinematic application: "Call Me by Your Name" (2017). Remote Phosphor Technology arrived in 2018, Generation 3 with wireless DMX and app control in 2021.

Practical Use in Film

Deakins used FreeStyle panels for the Las Vegas scenes in "Blade Runner 2049" - orange color gradients during live takes without filter changes. Standard setups: soft light through diffusion, eye-light for close-ups, set color grading. Low heat emission, flicker-free up to 40,000fps.

Comparison & Alternatives
