History & Development
Aputure introduced the LS 1200d Pro in 2021 as the flagship of its Light Storm series. The Chinese company had established itself since 2013 as a manufacturer of affordable professional lighting and, with the LS 1200d Pro, broke the 1000-watt barrier for LED spotlights for the first time. The development aimed to replace HMI fixtures of equivalent light output without their heat generation and power consumption.
Practical Use in Film
Cinematography teams use the LS 1200d Pro as a key light for daylight exterior shots or for lighting large spaces. The Bowens mount allows for the connection of softboxes, Fresnel lenses, or parabolic reflectors. The silent mode enables sound recording in close proximity.
