350W bi-color LED with extended 2700K–6500K range, 24,300 lux at 1m, and constant output mode.

The Aputure LS 300X is a bi-color LED spotlight with an extended color temperature range that goes beyond traditional bi-color limitations. The fixture offers a "Constant Output" mode, ensuring consistent brightness when changing color temperatures.

History & Development

Aputure introduced the LS 300X in 2019 as an evolution of the original LS 300d from 2017. The Chinese company established itself as an alternative to established manufacturers like ARRI or Kino Flo through aggressive pricing and high quality standards. In 2021, a firmware update followed with expanded DMX functions and improved app integration. The X-series introduced variable color temperature to Aputure's mid-range, a feature previously reserved for more expensive models.

Practical Use in Film

The LS 300X is suitable for interior shots as a key light in smaller spaces or as a fill light in larger productions. The variable color temperature eliminates the need for gels and allows for quick adjustments between artificial light (3200K) and daylight (5600K). For documentaries, camera crews appreciate its quiet operation for interviews. Battery operation makes the unit independent of mains power, though runtime is limited to approximately 45 minutes at maximum output with a 150Wh battery.

Comparison & Alternatives

Compared to the ARRI SkyPanel S30-C, the LS 300X offers similar color quality at a fraction of the price but lacks RGB functionality and advanced effects. The Godox VL300 achieves only a CRI of 95 at a similar price point. As a successor, Aputure introduced the LS 300d Mark II in 2022 with improved cooling and higher light output. For mobile applications, the LS 300X remains relevant due to its balanced ratio of performance, weight, and price.
